On behalf of the editorial board and the publisher of FV&V in ObGyn, I would like to thank all the authors and referees who have been contributing to the journal this year. Once again we observed a broad input from many different fields related to obstetrics, perinatal medicine, gynaecology and reproductive health.

We thank the members of the Departments of Obstetrics and Gynaecology from the University of Gent and Brussels for their support and active input in the March and September issues.

Beside the four regular issues we also published two Monographs in 2012. The first Monograph “When training becomes fun for trainers and trainees” focused on medical education

in obstetrics and gynaecology. It became a very attractive book with 13 papers written by prominent colleagues from Europe and other parts of the world describing a number of current issues and developments in training within our field. This Monograph was distributed to all participants of the EBCOG 2012 European Congress of Obstetrics & Gynaecology in Tallinn, Estland and at the XX FIGO World Congress in Rome, Italy.

The second Monograph on “Biomedical infertility care in poor resources countries: Barriers, Access and Ethics” was distributed to more than 10000 participants of the annual ESHRE meeting in Istanbul, Turkey. It was the result of a successful collaboration between the Social Science Study Group of the ESHRE Special Task Force on “Developing countries and infertility”, the WHO, the University of Amsterdam and the Walking Egg npo.

I sincerely hope that next year will be as exciting as 2012 with a lot of interesting debates, original scientific work, PhD Summaries, strong opinions and unexpected viewpoints.

We still count on our artistic reviewer, Koen Vanmechelen who is responsible for the very attractive and challenging look of our journal. The confrontation of art and science will be continued.

It was a pleasure to be the editor-in-Chief and I really look forward to a very promising 2013. Wishing you and your families a prosperous 2013,

Willem Ombelet
Editor-in-Chief
